Karhusaari Island West Harbor

Karhusaari Island is a pleasant nature recreation destination located about 1 km by water from the harbor of Lappeenranta. The project will construct a pier in Karhusaari suitable for larger cruise vessels, improving the island’s accessibility during the summer season. In addition to the pier, the new arrival area will include stairs from the pier up to the rock, a small viewpoint platform for resting, and a two-seat composting toilet. The project is carried out by the South Karelia Recreation Area Foundation in cooperation with the City of Lappeenranta and the Parish Union of Lappeenranta, which owns the island. EU rural development funding has been applied for the project from the Centre for Economic Development of Southeast Finland.
