Ilkonsaari Island, Särkänsatama Harbor Pier

Ilkonsaari Island, also known as Skete Island, is a unique tourist destination in southern Saimaa. The project will construct a new pier on the island’s eastern shore, in the so‑called Särkänsatama harbor area. Safety for smaller boats will be improved by the breakwater effect created by the pier on the bay side. Larger vessels can moor on the pier’s approach side, providing two alternative harbors on the island also for cruise boats. The Särkänsatama harbor pier enhances the accessibility of cultural heritage and increases Ilkonsaari Island’s attractiveness as part of the Saimaa tourism network.
